The first practice day of the Prototype Cup Germany at the DEKRA Lausitzring is over. In the second free practice session on Friday afternoon Donar Munding (20/Stuttgart, Mühlner Motorsport) was unbeatable. In the Duqueine D08, the junior driver lapped the 3.478-kilometre track in 1:21.458 minutes. "Of course I'm very happy about the best time. Because it shows that what you have worked on is bearing fruit and working. It gives you a good feeling for qualifying," beamed Munding, who shares the cockpit with Matthias Lüthen (41/Hamburg), in the Mühlner Motorsport box. "The Lausitzring is quite challenging to drive at first, especially because of the bumps. But once you find the rhythm, you get through very well."
Munding, however, was unable to achieve the best time of the day. Rinaldi Racing driver Oscar Tunjo (26/COL) clocked 1:20.901 minutes in the first free practice session and was thus around half a second faster.
Second place in the second free practice went to the Duqueine of Gary Hauser (30/LUX) and Sebastian von Gartzen (29/Butzbach, both Racing Experience). Hauser's fastest lap of 1:21.593 minutes was 0.135 seconds off the top. His brand colleagues Leonard Weiss (24/Monschau) and Torsten Kratz (51/Mönchengladbach, both WTM Racing) followed directly behind with a gap of 0.256 seconds. They thus rounded off a strong result for the prototypes of the French manufacturer Duqueine.
But the cars of the other brands were also able to establish themselves in the top group in the second free practice session. Fourth place went to Axcil Jefferies (28/ZWE) and Maximilian Hackländer (32/Rüthen, both Konrad Motorsport) in the Ginetta G61-LT-P3. The top five was completed by Berkay Besler (23/TUR) and Marvin Dienst (25/Lampertheim, both Toksport WRT) in the Ligier JS P320.
The Prototype Cup Germany continues in quick succession at the Lausitzring. On Saturday morning, qualifying will start at 08:15. For the first race, the lights go green at 15:35. The race action will be broadcast in a free livestream on youtube.com/adac, adac.de/motorsport and youtube.com/24hseries.
